Race & Event Overview

Finish your year with fulfillment by checking into the Anaconda Adventure Race at Lorne on December 7th, 2008. As the birth place of the Anaconda Adventure Race National Series and now the series finale there is always a feeling of homecoming and loaded lunacy as competitors race along the spectacular Great Ocean Road coastline and Otway Forest in an offroad adventure with a bang.

It does not get any better than this as individuals and teams take up the challenge that sees them swimming across the crystal clear Loutit Bay, paddling beneath the cliffs and into the golden beaches of the Great Ocean Road; running through rainforests and around the rocky headlands and mountain biking up secret single track and down rollicking descents.

Combine all this with an adventure expo and kids entertainment on the scenic Lorne foreshore allowing families and friends to spend the afternoon watching finishers propel themselves over the finish line, catch some free entertainment and share a drink with the winners in the event bar and this is one hell of an event.

Put a smile on your dial… you bet!

Choose your style and get involved - the Anaconda Adventure Race can be completed in a range of categories to get anyone and everyone to onto the start then over the finish line:
  • Individuals – do every leg as a non stop race around the track. Designed for heros and want-to-bes
  • Pairs – do every leg but in the company of your mate who’s by your side the whole way round
  • Relay teams – with up to 4 people where you do one (or more) legs each. A great way to get involved without being a super hero – build up a team of friends and work colleagues and join all the fun

Paddling

Not being a paddler is no longer a valid excuse for not giving the Anaconda a crack. We have a range of paddling sessions leading up to the event that will get even the most beginner paddlers surfing down waves and whooping with delight all the way around the paddle course! Surf Ironman legend (and recent convert to multisport & adventure racing, Bruce Dunlop, will be conducting kayak training sessions in Torquay every month until the race in December and a special paddle camp at Jan Juc Surf Club if sufficient demand is there. For Melbourne bound competitors, last year's winner and Bass Strait conqueror Jarad Kohlar from Peak Adventure is also conducting kayak training sessions at Sandridge Life Saving Club every Monday and Wednesday night at 5:30 - 7:30. {Click here for more details}
