Rapid Ascent is very excited to announce that the 2010 Anaconda Adventure Race at Augusta will be filmed for TV with a 30 minute television program being and produced about this iconic adventure sports event on Sunday November 7th, 2010.
The Augusta race will be included as a stand alone episode in a new 13 part Adventure Sports series being produced and distributed by Eurocam and will be screened on the free to air channel ONE HD and pay TV Fox Sports in Australia, as well as six other sports channels around the world including Eurosport and ESPN.
“We are absolutely thrilled to have secured this coverage," commented Rapid Ascent General Manager Sam Maffett, “We have thought that adventure racing would make great TV for quite a while now and have been pursuing coverage of our events for a couple of years. We really hope this coverage will help bring adventure racing into the mainstream and raise the general public’s awareness of what our competitors get up to."
The Western Australian filming initiative have been made possible by Eventscorp, the events arm of Tourism Western Australia who see that filming the event will help bring attention to the state’s South West and the variety of adventure activities and magnificent landscapes it has on offer.
Discussions are continuing with Eurocam regarding the logistics of filming the event, but their professional approach and sports experience will ensure that all elements of the race and the spectacular surrounds will be captured with cameras in the water, in the air and on land all capturing the action over race weekend.
This filming project forms part of a range of new initiatives and activities designed to increase the national and international awareness and participation in the Augusta Anaconda Adventure Race – the World’s Biggest Adventure Race.
Maffett also advises that there are several other exciting proposals Rapid Ascent is working on with Eventscorp that will hopefully see the event grow even bigger, making it easier for East Coast and International athletes to be part of the action over West. Stay tuned for more!
